The Chinese New Year is around the corner. For many millions of people around the world, some must-do list includes spring cleaning, decorating the home, preparing the red-pockets and of course stocking up on tidbits.

This is the time when family and friends get together and eating is part of the most important event. We cannot deny that during this festive season, our mouth and teeth have the most tiring jobs to chew all those Chinese New Year’s goodies.

So it is important to give an extra attention to our teeth and mouth. The last thing you should be worried about during this season is having a toothache and you need to rush to see a dentist.

Besides cleaning the house, it is also important to ensure that your gums and teeth are in their best condition to start the new year.

Below are some tips on how to prevent dental problems:

  • Avoid drinks with high sugar or acid content. High sugar content will cause the bacteria in the mouth to thrive. Definitely we should not let the bad bacteria in the mouth in joining us celebrating Chinese New Year. If you cannot avoid a sugary or acidic drink, at least rinse your mouth with plain water afterwards.
  • Avoid chewing  hard nuts, hard candies or ice cubes.
  • Bring a toothbrush and dental floss with you.
  • Keep a bottle of Oral Botanica in your bag so that you can always brush your teeth after a snack or a big meal. It will help to remove the sticky food between the teeth.
